The work of the GITEWS project establishing a Tsunami Early Warning System in the Indian Ocean is done in close cooperation with the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO which coordinates the different contributions in this region. Reconcilements take place in thematic working groups and at periodical meetings.

 

Besides collaboration with the indonesian partners there are close contacts with organisations in Australia, Kenya, Madagascar, Maldives, Republic of South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Yemen. The cooperation with further Indian Ocean rim countries is in preparation and is aimed at, respectively.
